IWF Austria: Female Leadership & Space Exploration

  • IWF Austria: Female Leadership & Space Exploration
    April 12, 2021
    10:00 am - 11:00 am

Space exploration helps us to address fundamental questions about our place in the universe and the history of our Solar System.

By addressing the challenges related to robotic and human spaceflight in low Earth orbit and deep space, we expand science and technology, create new industries and help to foster international cooperation. Robotic and human space exploration endeavors require innovative technologies and often multinational cooperation to exploit worldwide expertise.

We are living in a very dynamic era of space exploration with a number of current and future bold space missions to the Moon, Mars and Near-Earth Asteroids. Mars is still the central object of interest for life detection beyond Earth, paving the way for returned samples and human exploration.

Exploring space provides an opportunity to work together toward a larger goal, irrespective of nationality, race or gender! Gender diversity in the space sector is still an area where strong progress is warranted. This keynote will review recent and future robotic and human exploration missions investigating our Solar System and discuss the role of gender diversity and how best practices have evolved in the space sector.
