Join us for a conversation with 2020-2021 IWF Fellow, Jennifer Wendel, who has been employed with the FBI since November 1996.  She started as a serologist and examined evidence submitted to the FBI Laboratory for bodily fluids such as blood and semen.  Jennifer was promoted to the Examiner role in 1999 and for over 9 years managed forensic DNA cases, interpreted DNA profiles, reported results and testified as a DNA Expert in court.  She previously managed the FBI DNA nuclear casework CODIS Program (2002-2009) and the Federal Convicted Offender program (2003-2009).  Jennifer currently manages the CODIS Unit which is responsible for developing, providing and supporting the CODIS Program to international, federal, state and local crime laboratories to foster the exchange and comparison of forensic DNA evidence from criminal and missing persons investigations.  She is the Chair of the Rapid DNA Committee for the Scientific Working Group for DNA Analysis Methods.
