IWFCT's own Virginia P'an, Founder and CEO Yumi EcoSolutions, Inc., will kick off our program by sharing the history and traditions of the Chinese Lunar New Year. This is the year of the OX, 4718, and Virginia will share insights surrounding the meaning of the cycle of new year animals.

Kian Lam Kho is a food writer, teacher and food consultant specializing in Chinese cuisine. He is the creator of the James Beard Foundation Awards for his Chinese home cooking blog Red Cook (http://www.redcook.net). He will be showing us how we can make dumplings along with him, a staple of the Lunar New Year celebration (see ingredients below).

His cookbook, Phoenix Claws and Jade Trees: Essential Techniques of Authentic Chinese Cooking is the winner of the Julia Child first book award from IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) and featured in this month's Bon Apetite Magazine.

A Sweet Treat for Valentines Day/ Valentines Day and a Month of Love-

Celebrity Chef Francois Kwaku Dongo and Chocolate Confectioner will join us for a sweet treat to top off our evening. Chef Francois will demonstrate the making of simple chocolate truffles with Omanhene 80% pure dark chocolate and about the health benefits of that dark great chocolate.
