- “From Holocaust to Community Activism; Surviving as a Hidden Child in Slovakia” by Dr. Susan Lederman with IWF – New Jersey
February 25, 2021
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Hidden Children is a term for Jewish children who, during the Holocaust, were hidden in various ways, in order to save them from the Nazis in Poland, Slovakia, and also in Western Europe. Sometimes the children were physically visible, but disguised as Christians in convents or with Christian families. Sometimes they were physically hidden behind made up walls or in underground cellars with only periodic or no access to the real world. Often some combination of both.
It was one thing to not die, another to live fully and thrive. From a hidden child in Slovakia to a College Professor, an IWF Chapter President, and a political activist in the USA, Sue Lederman will share her personal journey of survival, and lessons in courage, resilience and perseverance.
